To match Vimto’s fun and fruity personality, we decided to create content inspired by the quirky and humorous stories often found in local news and community groups. This led to the creation of a fictional news outlet, ‘Squashed Online’, designed to share similar Vimto-themed tales.
My role was to think up and write out make-believe stories which blended the absurd with just enough plausibility to keep audiences intrigued. Over two months, a series of these playful posts entertained Vimto followers. However, the stories became so convincing that they started to blur the lines between fiction and reality. To avoid further confusion, the brand ultimately decided to retire the Squashed Online series.
